Answer: If an OEM manufacturer is offering you a fair trade in for your system you should by all means take it. Often this is not the case as both OEM's and dealers will offer you pennies on the dollar. TheLaserTrader is a great place to find out what systems similar to yours are being marketed at and selling for (street pricing) and compare that to the offer from the dealer or OEM.
If you have a little time you can list your system and see if you can get a higher price which can be put towards that new system.
The best analogy here is the automobile market. If you take your car into a dealer for a trade in against a newer model that value is usually substantially below what you could sell it on your own for.
Answer: Yes, here are just a few suggestions!
1)An accurate description of the true configuration of your system including year of manufacture (not delivery date), model and any model upgrades, system usage (hours, shot counts on system AND handpieces), has the system been under factory warranty / service since you have owned it and are there any accessories that come with the system sale. If you need help determining your usage or your true configuration give us a call and we can help get instructions on how to find this out.
2)Get a system inspection and certification to help potential buyers feel more confident about the quality of your system. This is similar to a "certified pre-owned" label often used in the automobile industry. We can give you a quote for a nationally recognized service provider that can perform this for you.
Answer: NO, there is never an obligation or anything upfront to sign to use TheLaserTrader but we do ask you that if you sell it on your own to please notify us so we can take your ad down. The only time you will sign contracts with TheLaserTrader is at the time that we sell the system.
What about consignments and sending TheLaserTrader your system in order to sell it? Very Important!! We strongly believe that you should NEVER consign or send your equipment to a dealer / broker in order to sell it. It makes much more sense to keep your asset in your control until the time of sale.
Answer: Our goal is to get you the best system possible and stay within your budget. Equipment dealers who stock lasers / IPL's also have the same goal as long as you buy one of the units that they have in stock. Dealers have some significant flaws when compared to TheLaserTrader.
1) The first is unanticipated obsolescence. If the equipment dealer is forced to carry aging and / or obsolete inventory, guess who ends up paying the premium?
2) The second flaw is the high cost associated with bricks and mortar facilities, inventory overhead and numerous employees & HR costs. Since we do not have any of those associated costs or overhead TheLaserTrader can charge a small flat fee and never add any hidden fee's or charges.
TheLaserTrader is not in the business of service and warranty we leave that up to service and warranty companies. Hence the reason we let you (the buyer) decide to get a warranty or service program from a certified service/warranty business or even from the OEM. We help set these services up directly with qualified service providers so that you get the most professional service possible. We work directly with most OEM's and one of the worlds largest after market service companies (GE), and roughly 65 independent service organizations. Can other dealers say that?
And remember the system that you are buying off TheLaserTrader is typically coming directly out of the seller's (Physicians office, MedSpa...) office to you. Therefore, there isn't a warranty that the seller (office) is going to offer with the system. The seller has no way of honoring a warranty. Think about it, if you sell your laser or IPL to another office do you have any way to honor a warranty? Are you a service/warranty provider? And no OEM in this industry will transfer a warranty from original owner to a new owner.
